A wintery escape to Stanthorpe

Queensland’s premier wine-making region is the Granite Belt… you can do the rounds of dozens of top cellar doors, but if you want to take your wine tasting beyond the usual chardonnay and shiraz, then we recommend you start at the top!

Summit Estate Wines has a long history on the Granite Belt. Vines were first planted there 22 years ago… and before that, it was home to the original Stanthorpe Wine Centre. These days, the Estate is part of the Strange Bird Wine Trail – vineyards offering less familiar styles of wine like Tannat, Fiano and Marsanne sparkling. Beyond tastings at the cellar door, Summit also offers sunset sessions… it’s the perfect way to end the day. You can sit back, enjoy the warmth of a toasty fire and snack on their delicious cheese boards.

And of course, when you visit a winery, it’s customary to leave with a bottle of your favourite drop! And what better place to crack it then at some luxurious accommodation in town.

Alure Villas offer some of the most deluxe accommodation in Stanthorpe. Each private haven is perfectly appointed and peacefully set on 50 acres of countryside… it’s so private that there are, in fact, only three accommodation options – the choice between two villas or a glamping tent.

On arrival, you’ll be greeted by the hostess and owner Marion Carrick with a breakfast hamper for the following day, and she’ll be there as much or as little as you please, making for the perfect stay…

So, if you’re feeling inspired to make a trip to the Granite Belt, head to Queensland’s website to plan your next escape.
