Exploring Albion with the Brisbane App

Is there a corner of Brisbane you’ve always been curious about, but never had the chance to explore? The free Brisbane App makes it so easy!

Take the inner-city suburb of Albion, for example. What was once an industrial hub is fast becoming a food-lovers hotspot.  Take a digital stroll and you’ll discover a smorgasbord of dining and drinking outlets to appeal to any taste.

Cheese-lovers will love the dairy deliciousness on offer at The Cheeseboard in the Albion Fine Trades precinct. Owner Wendy Downes is skilled in the art of affinage – working with local cheesemakers to ‘finish’ their fabulous fromage before sale. Enjoy a taste workshop, order a cheese tower or customized platter, or take a sneaky stash home for yourself.

A temple to the perfect pour, Fonzie Abbott in Albion can set you up with your beverage of choice. It’s thought to be the only coffee roastery, brewery and distillery under one roof in the world!  Try a kick-starter espresso or wash off the dust of the day with their Espresso Martini in a can.

Load up the kids and the dog and head to Collingwood Black for a fun Friday night out. The café, set in an former Albion warehouse and staircase factory, offers an end-of-week dining experience that includes two rotating food trucks, live music and a bar (for Mum & Dad). Four-legged family members are more than welcome too.

And finally – fans of tapas will love Vaquero, an intimate and relaxed cocktail bar and restaurant beneath the old Albion Town Hall.  Share plates include both savoury and sweet options.

Download the Brisbane App via Apple Store and Google Play and start exploring the city’s amazing precincts.  It’s powered by Brisbane City Council  – and it’s absolutely free.
