Bedarra Island

It’s not every day that you’re lucky enough to travel to exotic destination, stay in 5-star luxury, costing upwards of $1K a night, annnnnnnd to get paid to do it-  the definition of dream job right there.  Recently we had the pleasure of staying at undoubtedly, one of the best resorts in Australia. The experience was unbelievable.

Bedarra Island (off Mission Beach, and just south of Dunk Island) is one of those places that many dream of visiting – it’s a true bucket list destination. If not for the stunning, evergreen remote tropical island it sits on, or the boutique luxury apartments dotted across the property, but for the attentiveness of the staff, that make you feel like you’re a long lost relative that you’re meeting for the first time.

The moment that you step foot on the island – whether you arrive by boat from the mainland, or touchdown in style via helicopter – you’re made to feel at home and welcomed into what  is the best in “barefoot luxury”. But it’s not grand gestures that get the acclaim, as always, it’s the smaller touches that make the biggest impact. Staff remembering each and every person’s name, still/sparkling or tap water preferences, or how their morning coffee is served up – it’s all remembered.

While on the island, you can do as much, or as little as possible. Lazy day on a private patch of sand, sure thing. How about a brisk paddle around the island? That can be arranged. Or what about hiring a tinnie, getting the staff to pack you a small hamper – with only the finest trimmings – and heading to one of the many uninhabited islands neighboring Bedarra? Surely you’ll win some brownie points from your significant other.

After a hard day of doing [[whatever you choose]] your accommodation is styled to the nines – designer wares furnish the living spaces, a select playlist of chill beats to set to mood, an all-inclusive mini-bar, with the finest selects – 2013 Pinor Noir, nice touch Bedarra.

Yes, it’s expensive for the everyday battler. But is it worth it? Yes. Every. Damn. Cent. Will I be back? You bet your bottom dollar I will.
