Brisbane’s Princess Theatre Receives a New Lease on Life

Woolloongabba’s Princess Theatre has been part of the city’s creative soul for more than a century. It’s Queensland’s oldest standing theatre that has lovingly received a new lease on life.

That’s thanks to a great team of heritage and musical enthusiasts who instantly saw the building’s potential to become Brisbane’s newest home for live music and performing arts.

Brothers, Steve and Dave Sleswick, along with Steve Wilson and Simon Wade were recently recognised for their efforts at the 2022 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards, winning the “Investment in Brisbane” award.

“It was a huge honour to get that acknowledgement and win that award particularly in light of some of the finalists that we were up against under the category of Investment in Brisbane, places like the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal,” explained Steve Sleswick.

“It told us, it told our industry, it told the public I think that the city values its heritage, it values its cultural institutions, it values our lively music and art scene.”

There are a number of other categories that will be open for nominations from Outstanding Small Business to Product Innovation and everything in between. If you know any Brisbane businesses worthy of recognition, you can nominate them from Wednesday, 3rd May. The Lord Mayor’s Business Award will take place on Friday, 20th October.
