Christmas in South Bank

South Bank in Summer is a wonderful place to be. Add to that a sprinkle of Christmas cheer and you’ve got the most wonderful time of year!

“Christmas at South Bank” runs from Friday, 18th December to Wednesday, the 23rd December. Across six days, the parklands come alive with free activities and events to celebrate the season. There’s everything from live music and stage shows, to outdoor movies and kids activities.

Christmas Tree Spectacular, supported by ABC Radio Brisbane:

This year, the South Bank Piazza presents the Christmas Tree Spectacular, a stage production featuring song, dance, circus acts and more! Performances will take place twice nightly, at 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM.

The show is free to enjoy however, guests will be required to register their details on the night.

Christmas Cinema, presented by eatSouthBank:

South Bank’s River Quay is always a great spot for a picnic but come Christmas time, there’s another great reason to grab a picnic basket!

The outdoor Christmas Cinema will run a child-friendly movie at 6:00 PM and the 8:00 PM session will make for the perfect date night or get together with friends.

Packed or purchased picnic hampers are welcome with surrounding eateries like Popolo providing take away bites into the night.

Festive Beats, presented by eatSouthBank:

Live music fills the air on the Little Stanley Street Lawns, as well as River Quay. Over 30 local artists will perform during “Christmas at South Bank”, filling the air with original tunes and cheerful Christmas covers. If you love a sing-along or just appreciate live music, gather around from 4:00 PM to 9:45 PM.

Santa’s Stopover and Kids Craft & Storytelling:

As Christmas approaches, South Bank’s Flowstate transforms into Santa’s Stopover. Between 4:00 PM and 9:30 PM, kids can meet Mr and Mrs Claus as they spread Christmas cheer across the parklands.

Just a few steps away, the Flowstate Lawns host kids craft workshops and Elves recite some of Santa’s favourite Christmas stories. Craft and storytelling runs from 4:00 PM until 8:45 PM.

To manage crowd numbers, free tickets must be obtained to take part in the activities. Ticketing booths will open one hour prior to scheduled activities at Flowstate.
