Cobb & Co Nine Mile

In the 1870’s, Cobb & Co coaches travelled a well-worn track from Noosa on the Sunshine Coast to Gympie goldfields.

There is a way to recreate that journey – but instead of a coach and four, why not load the family into an Adria Altea caravan and hit the road?

The Altea is light-weight, easy to tow and sleeps up to 7 people – perfect for taking the whole tribe away for a weekend or longer.

Cobb & Co Nine Mile Campground is just south of Gympie – and a perfect place to pull up stumps.

Owned by Sean and Katherine O’Halloran, the campground offers spacious unpowered sites beside the billabong or beneath shady gums – as well as luxury canvas cabins.

The name refers to the stops coaches made, every nine miles, to refresh the horses. History repeats itself on school holidays, when a local wheelwright from Gympie brings his replica Cobb & Co coach to the campground for joyrides. Guests dress up in bonnets and top hats of the day for a spin around the bush tracks.

That’s just the start of the fun. Cobb & Co Nine Mile offers everything from mini-train rides to tractor rides… and playgrounds that feature a BMX track, flying fox and replica sailing ship. Plus, there’s the chance to swim or kayak in the billabong.
