If you’re driving along the Capricorn Highway, head west towards Blackwater and just past the town of Wycarbah, there’s a turn-off to the Mount Hay Gemstone Tourist Park.
The park is a fossicking field for ancient volcanic birthstones – beautiful thunder-eggs that guests can try their hand at finding.
The park is also home to a pewter workshop where precious metal Australiana figurines are created.
