Gordon Country Anniversary

Gordon Country – a 2,000-hectare working cattle property on the Southern Downs – is celebrating 50 years of delivering city slickers to the joys of a country holiday.
The property takes its name from owner Sue Gordon and her family whose predecessors were pioneers in the district – including the first mayor of Allora; the first butcher; and the town’s first publican.
Clearly, pioneering remained in the Gordon blood. In 1967, when Sue was just 18 years old, she and husband Ian were struggling with low cattle prices and drought. They hit upon the novel idea of opening their farm to campers – and the concept of the ‘farmstay’ was born!
Half a century later, Gordon Country continues to welcome families to its serene surrounds – with the option to set up camp; stay in cabins; or book one of the new glamping tents.
BYO horse and you can explore valley trails or bring along your 4WD and go adventuring along Gordon Country’s picturesque off-road tracks.
Gordon Country also hosts weddings and special events in its charming function centre, the Rivergums Barn.
