Two Top Ways to Cool Off on the Gold Coast

There’s no better family bonding experience than a day trip.  And if you’re within striking distance of the Gold Coast, here are two awesome spots to take the whole gang – especially if you have littlies in the mix. And they’re both perfect for cooling down on a steamy day.

Tallebudgera Creek flows between Burleigh Heads and Palm Beach – and, on a perfect day, its golden sand and turquoise waters can rival the Whitsundays.

The estuary is sheltered and calm – great for budding swimmers – and perfect if Mum or Dad want to take the SUP board for a spin.

Once you’ve staked your claim on the sand, send a scout to grab coffees and treats from Custard Canteen, situated in front of the Gold Coast Recreation Centre. The café serves great java, big brekkies and irresistible pastries – baked fresh throughout the day. Plus, there’s plenty of chill-out zones for lounge lizards.

Once the day starts to heat up, you may want to shift camp to Currumbin Valley, just 20 minutes’ drive away. Head to Currumbin Beach and turn inland to swap gold and blue for a swathe of greens.

Currumbin Valley Rockpools are the place to cool off in summer.  Spread out on the sprawling lawns which flow down to placid pools, gently tumbling rapids and a creek that’s pretty as a picture – shaded by towering rainforest trees.
