When to try the Mon Repos Turtle Encounter

One of the most incredible nature experiences to be enjoyed in Queensland is a Mon Repos Turtle Encounter.

Mon Repos is a beach just outside of Bundaberg and is the largest nesting site for loggerhead turtles in the South Pacific.

Turtle season runs from November to March and during November to January, guests can witness turtles nesting. Hatchlings emerge between late January and March.

Visitors to the Mon Repos Turtle Centre can book spots on the turtle experiences, which run after 6pm. The experiences are led by local QPWS Rangers and are welcome to people of all ages.

Prices for children start at $6.75 and adults at $13.05.

Visitors looking for somewhere convenient nearby should stay a night or two at the Bargara Beach Caravan Park.

It’s ideal for families and boasts plenty of space for caravans, as well as comfortable one or two-bedroom cabins.
