Release your inner artist in Caloundra

There’s a real art to making a good cup of tea… you might choose to use tea bags or loose-leaf, milk or no milk, add sugar, honey or even a slice of lemon!

Either or, mastering your own cuppa is very much a personal thing, but at The Tea Merchant, you can leave it in the capable hands of Monica.

Being a botanist by trade, Monica became fascinated by tea and its diversity and now offers hand-curated blends at her tea house on Caloundra’s main street. So, if you’re someone who only really knows tea in the form of a bag – then listen up because Monica has some tips for you!

Did you know you should never use boiling water with your green tea? Instead, once the kettle boils, let it cool down then brew your tea. Otherwise, if your kettle is temperature-controlled, set it to about 90 degrees. Depending on the type of green tea, it should also really only brew for 2-3 minutes. It’s a myth that the longer you let it brew, the stronger the tea is… instead, just add more loose leaf and brew for the same amount of time.

A good cuppa is always relaxing… so why not make that feel-good moment last longer? Caloundra Holiday Centre has a suite of properties that will have you living and feeling like a Sunny Coast local… with a little luxury too!

Check in to the Grand Pacific Resort and let the worries wash by in their six-person penthouse. Included is your own private spa bath and secluded rooftop terrace – with panoramas of Pumicestone Passage, Bribie Island and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

If it’s a view that you could get used to – well you’re not alone. It’s also one that’s inspired many artists and their works… so, if you’re feeling creative, then head out and paint the town red – but in a more subdued manner – at The Art Hub, home to the Sunny Coast’s O.G. Paint & Sip class! BYO a bottle of bubbly and instructors, Natasha and Grace, will look after the rest.

But if you’re like ‘nah uh, I don’t have a creative bone in my body’, then let us tell you The Art Hub has a painting for everyone. They’re simple enough that even someone who’s never picked up a paintbrush before can walk away feeling confident and accomplished, and like they’ve created something beautiful.
