Teddies in Toowoomba

If you go down to the woods today…

Ah… we mean up to the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers… you’re in for a big surprise!

One of Australia’s best-loved festivals, the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers bursts into bloom for the whole of September 2022 – and, in the spirit of Spring, there are plenty of new things to enjoy.

One of them is the Teddy Bears Picnic, happening on Saturday September 24th at – where else? – Toowoomba’s Picnic Point.

In partnership with Tambo Teddies, the family-friendly event will see visitors BYO their favourite bear on the day.  Enjoy live entertainment, including an Alice in Wonderland Teddy Bears Picnic Show; a Teddy Bear Parade; games and activities including colouring in and fairy bread making.

There’s also the chance to win Doug, the new Tambo Teddy created to honour Toowoomba’s team of gardeners whose hard work means the city is an explosion of floral colour for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.

More than 190,000 seedlings are planted over 3 months in Toowoomba’s parks and gardens – timed to burst into bloom towards the end of September.

From flowers in the park, to petals on a plate – the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is also known for trEATS (Toowoomba Regional Eats) where clever chefs across the city create Spring-time signature dishes to enjoy through the carnival.

There’s more delicious things to discover at the aptly named Food & Wine Festival, a popular highlight of the event that spans a long weekend.

Much-loved chef Julie Goodwin will headline the flavour-makers at the festival… and a line-up of local musicians will bring their song stylings to Queens Park for the 3 day event.
