The Curated Plate 2022: Maroochydore Cider and a Three-Course Flexitarian Feed

Well, you know the saying… when life gives you lemons… or in Martin Rellstab’s case, apples! – you make champagne and cider…

And you would, as a 25th generation cidermaker! Martin is the first of his family to bring this custom from Switzerland to the Sunshine Coast… and it runs strong in the Rellstab name, with cidermaking dating all the way back to 1384.

And believe it or not, but the process hasn’t changed all too much since those days… you can get a tour of how it exactly it unfolds under Martin’s guidance at Sunshine Coast Cider.

It’s part of the many experiences being offered for The Curated Plate. From 29 July-7 August, local restaurants, farms, tourism and event operators will throw open their doors in offering the best of the Sunshine Coast’s local food and beverage experiences across a ten-day period!

Another innovator taking the Sunshine Coast foodie scene by storm is celebrated chef, Alejandro Cancino. Through his products and dishes – Alejandro plants the seed of a “flexitarian” lifestyle… a fun way of saying “flexible vegetarian”… and a way to go meatless without committing full-time!

Catch Alejandro and his ‘Kitchen Takeover’ at Mapleton Public House as part of The Curated Plate. It includes three shared courses… all vege-inspired and completely vegan… but not how you might know it!

Make a weekend of the festival by staying at the coast’s newest hotel in the Maroochydore CBD, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sunshine Coast.

They’re offering WEEKENDER viewers 20% off the best available rate starting from $160 per room per night for bookings and stays until August 16, 2022. Book via this link.
