Travelling to Rockhampton aboard the Queensland Rail Travel Tilt Train

Catching the train with Queensland Rail Travel is the best way to travel to some of Queensland’s biggest and best regional festivals.

The train is comfortable, convenient and relaxing. The tilt train is a great example. At top speed, the tilt is one of the fastest trains in Australia and it travels as far north as Rockhampton from Brisbane CBD.

Guests can enjoy economy class which has plenty of features including onboard entertainment and reclining seats. If you want to spoil yourself, go Business class. Travellers can enjoy a larger seat, complimentary juice and newspaper, power to charge devices and free onboard Wi-Fi.

A great regional festival is the Adani Rockhampton River Festival. It’s on once a year and is a celebration of all that’s great about central Queensland.

The festival features live music and entertainment, rides for children, food and drink, art installations, theatre productions and much more. It draws in visitors from around the state and is the region’s largest winter festival.

A great Rocky attraction that is open all year round is the Great Western Hotel. It was opened in 1862 and has four bars, gaming room and most impressively, a large arena where concerts are held and weekly rodeo riding. Guests are able to dine on great food whilst watching the rodeo!

A great place to base yourself when in Rockhampton is at the Empire Apartment Hotel.

It’s right in the middle of the riverfront dining precinct and offers three restaurants of its own, a rooftop pool and 120 self-contained rooms and suites, all with super fast wifi and the best views in town.
