What’s on in Townsville: Winter 2019

Tropical Townsville has always been a popular destination for people after a winter escape in the North Queensland sun.

But it’s not the weather that’s bringing people to town in winter 2019.

There are two major cultural festival taking place: The North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA), which is on from July 1 to August 31st, and the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, which runs July 26th to August 4th.

One of the most popular performances of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music is the Queens Gardens Concert on Sunday, July 28 at 3 p.m.

NAFA includes a range of performances and exhibitions like the Strand Ephemera, which features 36 supersized-sculptures on display along the Townsville foreshore.

Another popular performance that will be part of NAFA is Dancenorth’s ‘Noise’, a community drumming display that will involve nightly performances at 6pm and 7pm at The Stand Park, Noth Ward, Townsville.
