Ladies and gentlemen, sharpen your appetites!
Scenic Rim Eat Local Month is on again, in its lucky 13th year, serving up a degustation of more than 120 delicious events across the entire month of June.
From lavish long lunches… to cooking masterclasses… and back-to-the-land experiences, there are 4 whole weeks and 5 full weekends to savour this year.
And if you’re foraging for something fresh in 2024, you’re in luck. There are more than 50 new and revitalized events to sink your teeth into.
New additions to the festival include a farming workshop at beautiful Forgotten Sound Farm in the shadow of Mount Tamborine. Forgotten Sound Farm celebrates human-scale, organic market garden farming. During the workshop, farmer Jaimie Pennell will share her skills, tips and passion for farming on a smaller scale. The workshop will happen on Sunday 2 June from 9am to 10.30am.
Up on Tamborine Mountain, you can join the fun of the Growers and Makers Market Day at North Stores, North Tamborine, also happening on Sunday 2 June. This food, art and retail centre will host local food artisans, live entertainment and plenty of delicious experiences as part of the opening weekend of Scenic Rim Eat Local Month. The centre of attraction will be Picnic Real Food Bar which will feature a special menu hyper-focused on local Tamborine Mountain produce. Bring a picnic blanket and join the delicious fun.
Also throwing open its doors for the first time that weekend is Loborn Distillery, also at North Stores. Short for locally born, this newbie on the artisan bevvy scene produces traditional Amaro bitter liqueurs with a true-blue Aussie twist, using local botanicals from the Scenic Rim region. There’ll be booked tastings on Saturday 1 and Loborn will be open for walk-ins as part of the growers market on the Sunday.
Tickets are on sale now for Scenic Rim Eat Local Week which runs from Saturday 1 June to Sunday 30 June.
