On April 6, Brisbane City’s beautiful Roma Street Parkland will celebrate its 20th birthday, and there are all sorts of festivities planned in its honour, throughout 2021.
The first is from 10am-4pm on April 10 and April 11, when the Parkland’s Celebration Lawn is the venue for Big Picnic. The weekend-long birthday party features free live music and all the makings of the perfect casual outing. Wining and dining options include the offerings from food trucks, picnic hampers from The Garden Room Café, or visitors can BYO.
Bic Picnic is free, but be warned that tickets are limited, so you will need to pre-register online at romastreetparkland.com.au.
In other news, the Kids Collective holiday program will run from April 7-9 and April 14-16, with free themed activities.
Roma Street Parkland’s popular guided walking tours also open to the public again from April 10. There’s so much to see as you wander through the many themed garden rooms. Tours cover the location’s rich history; its many artworks and naturally focus on the flora (and some fauna) that thrive in the heart of the city.
The green heart of the city has been recognized internationally for its sustainability, conservation and heritage with a prestigious Green Flag award. In fact this year it made a list of the top ten Green Flag parks in the world.
Roma Street Parkland honey can be purchased online and it is incorporated into some of the dishes at the park’s popular Garden Room Café.
