Sunshine Coast Babymoon

As most of us know, taking time out is vital at the best of times and when you’re weeks away from baby, it’s even more important!

Of course, not every mother-to-be has the time for a holiday so a weekend getaway can be a much better option. What’s more, a babymoon doesn’t necessarily mean going away with your partner… instead Liz takes a friend who happens to have the same due date – that means no sitting opposite someone drinking wine or eating soft cheese!

These days, there are plenty of destinations offering activities for expectant mums to enjoy before their due date and the Sunshine Coast is no exception.

The first leg of Liz’s babymoon starts at The Pottery Studio in Nambour where Amy Hills offers clay hand building lessons on the weekends. Liz and Jessie spend some time rolling, kneading and moulding a personalised baby mobile.

Next up, only 25 minutes inland is Spicers Clovelley Estate in Montville where they offer a special babymoon package – but first, food!

Award-winning restaurant, The Long Apron is located within the estate, and it’s the perfect spot to enjoy lunch. Our top picks are the Oyster Mushrooms with Goats Curd and Spent Grains or the Miso Braised Eggplant with Wild Mushroom, Tempeh and Onion.

Spicers Clovelley Estate‘s day spa, Spa Anise offers up plenty of relaxation remedies, and they have a specially catered treatment for the babymoon package. Tailored to mums-to-be, the treatment includes a pregnancy massage and petit spa facial which is particularly good for hydration.

Post treatment, it’s time to relax and Spicers Clovelley Estate has a number of accommodation options… all luxurious… set in beautiful tranquil gardens.

The babymoon package rooms come set up with a special relaxation corner to end the day in pure harmony. Enjoy chocolate covered strawberries while reading the provided pregnancy mags and engaging the senses with a scented candle. Oh and they offer a special little gift for baby too – very cute!
