Brisbane’s Powerhouse… she doesn’t look nearly one hundred… and hasn’t she had quite the life!
Serving as a power station for her first fifty years, then surviving decades as an underground stage for filmmakers… filled with plenty of aerosol art.
Today, the Powerhouse stands as the city’s cultural hub in New Farm… celebrating musicians… performers… and artists! Each year, they welcome 1200 different exhibitions and performances… then there’s three on-site restaurants… to feed the masses who visit… the newest offering even better views of Brisbane River!
It’s called Vertigo… but don’t let the name put you off… it’s Australia’s first ‘vertical’ restaurant! We didn’t think the Powerhouse needed another theatre… but this is pure theatre.
17 metres above ground… suspended from the Powerhouse rooftop… where safety is paramount… this a dining experience for daredevils! Strap in for a 90-minute sitting with three courses by Bar Alto. Their locally sourced fare is a far distraction from any fear of height!
With eight tables of two, Vertigo is an intimate setting… but one that comes complete with a backdrop… boasting breathtaking views of the city. It’s angle you’ve probably never seen before.
Our recommendation? Skip dessert, because there’s the option to dropline down the side of the Powerhouse to complete the experience… it’s really the cherry on top! For more info and to book your tickets, head to Vertigo’s website.
