5 Spots To Walk Your Dog in Brisbane

Are you always on the hunt for a new spot to walk your pooch? We know we are! Luckily in Brisbane, there are lots of spots to take your furry friend for a walk, without leaving the city. From the bayside, to right under the Story Bridge, here are five great spots to go for a walk by the water and let your pup stretch his legs…

1. Captain Burke Park, Kangaroo Point

On a weekend afternoon, the ‘beach’ and riverwalk under the Story Bridge is packed with pooches! Hop on the Kangaroo Point river walk at Captain Burke Park, and you will quickly find a beach at low-tide that is perfect for dogs to play. Keep following the path around the bend, and you will be met with dozens of adorable pups out for an afternoon walk and play on the lawn. Even if you don’t have a dog, this is a lovely spot to fish or go for a walk (and do a bit of dog-spotting).

2. Northshore, Hamilton

On a hot day, Northshore in Hamilton is a great spot to take your dog for a walk and play. You will be bound to meet a few other pups out for an afternoon stroll, and trust us, your dog will love playing on the sand. The walk around Northshore is quite brief, but it’s a lovely way to get outside with your furry friend. Our tip is to head to Northshore on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday afternoon and start or finish your walk at Eat Street.

3. Colmslie Recreation Reserve, Murarrie

Across the river, Colmslie Recreation Reserve in Murarrie is another great spot for your dog to feel the sand between his paws. The Recreation Reserve is located off Lytton Road at the end of Col Gardner Drive. Here you will also find an off-leash park, complete with agility equipment, a boat ramp, jetty and small beach.

4. Raby Bay Dog Beach, Cleveland

Raby Bay Dog Beach, on Masthead Drive, is a fantastic spot for bayside dogs. Foreshore Park is a lovely spot to spend a Summer afternoon, as your dog plays with the many other four-legged visitors.

5. Bunya Swimming Hole, Albany Creek

Bunya Crossing Reserve Swimming Hole is one of the northside’s best hidden gems! You can find this lovely swimming spot tucked away at the junction of Bergin Creek and South Pine River in Albany Creek. The swimming hole is great for those with four-legs (and two), although dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. If you don’t mind a bit of fishing (thanks for the tip Creek to Coast), this is also a great spot to wet a line in between swimming, playing with your pooch, kayaking or perfecting your stand up paddleboarding skills!
