Celebrating 60 years of the Mustang

60 years ago, things were a little different in Brisbane. That year, the Beatles came to town and the tallest building you would find in the city, was the City Hall clock tower. However, in another part of the world a team of master engineers were gearing up, to change the automotive industry forever.

That team was from Ford. They were about to release the first ever Mustang. A car that would take the world by storm. Still to this day, Mustangs turn heads everywhere they go.

RACQ has teamed up with the Mustang Owners Club of Queensland, to celebrate this very special anniversary at this year’s Motorfest. Marice’s 1965 convertible is the feature car at this year’s event. She says her favourite thing about her driving her one-of-a-kind car is, “the wind in your hair when we have the top down, the reaction from everybody we drive by. They all give you thumbs up.” Most of all, “it just makes you feel special.”

Motorfest is one of the biggest and most popular motoring events in Queensland and has plenty of entertainment for the whole family. There will be rides, food, special exhibits and of course plenty of Mustangs.
