Stradbroke Island Driving

One the best things about living in South East Queensland is that North Stradbroke Island or Minjerribah is right on our doorstep. There couldn’t be a better place to enjoy a weekend getaway. And best of all, it’s so easy!

It’s just a 45-minute ferry ride with Sealink. It’s a lovely trip. There’s a café on board, amenities, and plenty of room for your vehicle.

The ferry will get you to Dunwich, and then it’s just a 20-minute drive along bitumen roads to Point Lookout. It’s there that you’ll find a walk so spectacular, that it’s arguably one of the best in all of Queensland. The Gorge Walk is just over a kilometre long but it’s a cinch! There are boardwalks the whole way and there’s so much wildlife to spot; sharks, turtles and best of all whales!

It you need a feed after the Gorge Walk then you can’t beat Sunshine Street Food. It’s a mobile food truck that offers fresh seafood in a range of culinary styles; Greek, Sri Lankan, Mexican. You name it, they’ve got it!

And if you need someone to show you around the island, then you can’t beat a fellow who goes by the name, Barefoot Dave. He’s the colourful character behind Straddie Kingfisher Tours. He offers a range of tours and activities include sandboarding, fishing and tag along four-wheel driving.

If you’re looking to up your 4×4 game, check out the range on offer at Isuzu Ute!
