The secret’s out on this charming daytrip destination!

Want to enter a world of whimsy and old-world charm?

Then head to the Tweed Valley Hinterland. In the picturesque foothills of Mount Warning, you’ll find the tiny town of Tyalgum, which is proudly home to Flutterbies Cottage Café.

Flutterbies is not just a café, it’s an experience.

“It literally is like stepping through a portal. And many people say that from the front it’s unassuming – old buildings on the outside, but as you walk in, you start to discover a whole other world.  Many people say it’s like a little village within a village”

Flutterbies is famous for their high teas, service, old world charm, creativity and surprise factor. Inside the historic town butcher and bakery you’ll find delightful tea rooms, a gin bar, coffee house, gift shop and nursery. Their in-house pastry team also bake daily creations in the restored bakehouse.

Flutterbies is also surrounded by artisans, hosted in the outside courtyard, called La Markette Lane. Stepping through you’ll find Tuscany of Tyalgum – which is a beautiful local artists and Italian wares shop; there’s a second-hand bookshop; local jewellers and makers stores; a fairy shop that offers story time with a fairy godmother; as well as fashion, homewares and eco shops.  The venue hosts regular live music and events, as well as markets on the last Saturday of the month.

Flutterbies Cottage Cafe in Tyalgum is scenic two-hour drive from Brisbane, or a 45-50 minute drive from the Gold Coast.

“We get the most beautiful customers, because they start their journey and go on this magical drive through the hinterland and World heritage listed national parks and they end up coming into a wonderland where they can’t help by feel happy.”

Flutterbies is just like the stories your grandma would tell you of a time when things were a little more innocent and people lived at a slower pace. Do yourself a favour and explore the magic that Flutterbies and La Markette Lane have to offer.
