Cooly Rocks On

Hands up – who loves a party? Well, consider this your official invitation to a bumper crop of brilliant Queensland festivals and events coming up in June.

From 5 to 9 June, the Gold Coast’s Coolangatta once again hosts Australia’s number one nostalgia festival – Cooly Rocks On!

Held over 5 action packed days, the event has something for everyone, including live music; the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest (one of only 2 in Australia); more than 900 cars on display as part of the Show’N’Shine; feature shows including international Elvis tribute artists, Dwight Icenhower and Clearwater Survival Show; nostalgia markets; the pin-up pageant; dance workshops and beachside rock’n-roll dance. There’s plenty to see for free along with ticketed experiences.

 

Relish Food & Wine Festival

One for the foodies now! Relish Food & Wine Festival takes over the heritage town of Maryborough on Saturday 1 June.

Matt Golinski returns to host the Food Lovers Marquee – with demos from local chefs too. The Hyne Timber Main Stage features a fresh line up, imcluding Brisbane band Fat Picnic.

Ticketed events include a tasting session with the master brewer from Wide Bay Brewing Co – Maryborough’s first brewery in over 100 years.  Secrets and Scandals, held in the historic Bond Store Museum, tells the stories of 3 pioneering sisters – The Gregory Girls who were hugely successful businesswomen in Maryborough during the 1840 – 1860’s.

The festival’s solo stage this year will also feature an all-local all-female line up.

 

St Lawrence Wetlands Weekend

For a tasty medley of fine food and fabulous natural scenery, head to St Lawrence Wetlands Weekend from June 21 to 24.

Matt Golinski is back doing the Signature local produce luncheon.  Jeremey Marou (from Busby Marou) and Brad Butcher (winner of two Tamworth Golden Guitars) will headline the music on Saturday. The Greek God of gardening, Costa Georgiadis, returns.  Plus, there’ll be a Friday sunset cultural experience, crab races and a whole lot more.
