Take some time to explore the Falls Drive in Southern Queensland – you’ll be greeted with many amazing picture postcard vistas, green hills and delights only the countryside can treat you to.
Either start or finish in Killarney – one of the scenic gems of the South East Queensland. Killarney’s rolling foothills, deep secluded valleys and dramatic waterfalls provide picture postcard views that will stir your imagination.
Brown’s Falls
You will find Browns Falls on Spring Creek Road- it’s a pretty 10-15m waterfall set against a basalt wall. The 600m walk to the falls requires some scrambling over rocks and walking along the stream bank but it’s not recommended for those with mobility issues.
Dagg’s Falls
Follow the sign to Dagg’s Falls lookout point which provides an impressive view of the falls from the roadside viewing platform.
Queen Mary Falls
The area surrounding the 40m plunging waterfall is a combination of towering red gums, brush box and patches of sub-tropical rainforest.
The lookout point is located 400 metres from the picnic grounds and is connected by a well defined track to the base of the falls. The 2km walk descends through open forests into the rainforest gorge and offers spectacular views of the Queen Mary Falls and the basalt cliffs.
Queen Mary Falls Caravan Park
Is located opposite the picnic area and is good place to purchase refreshments and seed for hand feeding the rosellas and parrots that congregate in the area. If you’d like to stay a little longer, there’s beautiful cosy, cabins or campgrounds, if you’d prefer to BYO.
