The Kuranda Scenic Railway is one of Australia’s much-loved journeys. It departs from Freshwater Station just north of Cairns City. The train gently snakes its way up the range offering passengers fantastic views back down to the coast. Travel in Gold Class and passengers will be spoilt with freshly baked treats throughout the journey, which includes a scheduled stop to admire The Barron Falls before continuing to the quirky rainforest town of Kuranda.
From Kuranda, you can either jump back on the Kuranda Scenic Rail for the return journey or jump on a Skyrail Gondola. The cable runs 7.5 kilometres and crosses over the mighty Barron River. At Red Peak Station passengers can jump out and explore with one of Skyrail’s Rangers.
