Isla Gorge, Expedition and Palmgrove are three wonderful examples of Queensland national parks.
They are part of the Great Dividing Range and encompass around 250 000 hectares of
sandstone wilderness in Central Queensland.
Campers who stay at Isla Gorge appreciate the solitude, the wildflowers that emerge from midwinter to summer, and the changing colours of the sandstone escarpments from hour to hour.
Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service ranger Nathan Willis has travelled the state and
experienced its natural diversity, and he considers the sandstone belt to be a highlight.
