Like the rest of the world, Queenslander’s are adjusting to the way we live our lives, one day at a time. It seems that each new day brings with it a new restriction we need to abide by.
While we know it’s incredibly important to adhere to these new rules to help stop the spread of COVID-19 or Coronavirus, there’s just one thing we hope and pray they never take away from us… coffee!
As it stands (as at 1st April 2020), coffee shops are still allowed to operate providing they only offer takeaways. So, we’ve done some digging to uncover where you can still get a takeaway coffee but, before we share them with you, here are a few handy tips to take into account when picking up your morning brew:
- Be quick – the less time you spend outside the coffee shop the better. Grab your coffee and go.
- Make sure you adhere to social distancing rules
- Use card only to pay
- As much as we want to help the environment, Keep Cups should no longer be accepted
- Where possible, try and put the plastic lid on yourself
Okay, now for the good stuff:
Lil Gypsy, Paddington
As you drive along Latrobe Terrace, it’s hard not to notice this adorable little van. The Lil Gypsy caravan seems right at home among the boutique stores that line the streets of Paddington. What was once a bright red vintage van, has been transformed into a peach dreamboat you’d expect to see on the coast. Rachel Price and her dad have poured tons of TLC into this gorgeous van, which now pour delicious brews.
At Lil Gypsy, you’ll be able to pick up coffee, cold drinks, snacks and delicious pastries.
Bellissimo Coffee, Fortitude Valley
From the street, this café looks like your quintessential coffee shop but once you step inside, you know these guys are serious about coffee! Coffee roasters form part of the furniture and the smell of freshly ground beans fill the air. The Bellissimo crew began roasting their own beans in 2010 and just three years later, expanded to their second roastery in Bulimba. Bottom line, the coffee is top-notch and we highly recommend you pop by to give it a try.
Death Before Decaf, New Farm
This hole-in-the-wall takeaway joint fuels up lovers of caffeine 24 hours a day! You heard right. They never shut so a fresh brew is never too far away.
Bunker Coffee, Milton
Originally a World War Two air-raid bunker, this Milton café is brimming with character. From the vine-covered walls to the cool interiors. Owner, Marcus Allison saw the potential of this quirky space and loving transformed it into the popular café it is today.
Famished on Frasers, Ashgrove
If you love a flavoursome cup of coffee, let us introduce you to Famished on Frasers. Serving up Common Coffee, you can rest easy knowing your first dose of caffeine in the morning is going to be a tasty one!
