What’s on at this year’s Brisbane Fashion Month

When you hear the words “event” and “2020” … you automatically assume both no longer go together, but not to worry – this year’s Brisbane Fashion Month is going ahead!

And it’s set to be bigger and better than ever, director Laura Churchill promises. In fact, the month-long extravaganza has already kicked off… but there is still plenty of events you can get involved with.

If you haven’t heard of BFM before, it’s the brainchild of Laura Churchill – a month solely dedicated to giving the local labels a pedestal… and the city’s only major fashion and runway event for 2020. And as a place where luxury meets style, no wonder the new Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct have jumped on board as this year’s event partner. It’s where the much-loved RESORT finale will be held, along with other events later this month.

But, it’s not always about the fashion, this year there will be a spotlight placed on local beauty brands. You’ll find them at Brisbane Fashion Month’s first beauty forum… an evening at West Village where Queensland brands will unite to celebrate all things… beauty! You can get to know the people behind these brands and ask any burnings questions you’ve ever had about your make up or skincare regime. Head to this link to buy your tickets.

Another focus Laura had this year was to incorporate an art element… I mean, it does go hand-in-hand with fashion and beauty. So, tie in with the theme, BFM’s first virtual runway, which hit the screens on October 1, was held at the Museum of Brisbane… a place where you’ve got the contemporary, but also the spirit of the old. Gail Sorronda was just one of the designers to be included… along with the likes of Shilo + Lydia, Andrew Semple, George Wu, Palma Martin and Joteo. You can view the virtual runway here:
