Newstead House, built in 1846, is Brisbane’s oldest surviving European residence.
Closed for some years to allow restoration work to take place, the jewel in the city’s architectural crown has re-opened to the public.
Visitors will notice some changes – including a new blue exterior paint job, returning the home to its original hue of the mid-1800s.
The roof has been restored to its traditional slate and original wallpaper of the 1860s has been painstakingly recreated in the authentic style of the period.
