Paula West is known to Sunshine Coast locals as the ‘Queen Bee.’ She is passionate about the honey bee and through that passion, Adopt a Beehive was born.
It began when Paula and her husband Gary, moved to Queensland and bought a farm on the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Soon after sewing their first crops, they noticed they weren’t receiving any of the yields.
After a bit of digging around, ‘Gary the garden guru’ noticed that the root of the problem was that there were no bees on the farm. After introducing two beehives, the rest you could say, was history.
Through Adopt a Beehive, people can sponsor the setup of a bee sanctuary. The sanctuaries are established on organic and bio-dynamic farms that are free from contamination of toxic products.
