If you go down to the beach next month, you’re in for a big surprise!
A troop of tangerine-coloured, sumo-shaped characters will take over Burleigh Headland and beach on the Gold Coast – in just one of many thought-provoking performances in this year’s Bleach Festival.
Looks Like a Tourist challenges audiences to question their behaviour when visiting places of iconic natural beauty.
And there’s a shout-out for volunteers to man the big orange plastic suits as part of the moving installation. If you’re interested in signing up, head to the Bleach website.
Now in its 12th year, Bleach is set to bring colour, characters and culture to the Gold Coast from 3rd to the 13th August – with a packed program of art, music, theatre, fun and fantastic free and ticketed events.
There’ll be 5 big performance hubs up and down the coast – including a fresh new festival focal point at the Broadbeach Cultural Precinct.
The precinct will host a ‘festival within a festival’ featuring river and land stages, food trucks and plenty of free entertainment – including drag queen, Beverly Kills and a whole lot more!
Elsewhere, festival hubs like HOTA will host Imaginary Aviary – where musicians play within the HOTA art gallery – and the world premiere of Rollercoaster, a fast-moving theatrical extravaganza by Gold Coast performance group, Everybody Now!
