Where to visit in the Blackall Ranges

A terrific way to explore any region is on a day drive and the Blackall Range in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland is the perfect place to do just that.

Visit Sunshine Coast Tourism has recently launched a fantastic Blackall Range Tourist Drive Map. It outlines all the best routes and the places of interest.

The Blackall Range is home to charming villages including Montville, Maleny and Mapleton. It’s also peppered with many tourist attractions ideal for the whole family.

Mary Cairncross Reserve has a café on site called Mountain View Café. It offers breakfast and lunch seven days a week.

Mary Cairncross has an educational Discovery Centre on site that is great for families as well as 55 hectares of lush sub-tropical rainforest filled with easy bushwalks.

Nearby is Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World. The gardens are one of the largest private botanic gardens in Australia and are also home to four giant aviaries with 700 native and exotic species. There’s a café on site and Devonshire Teas are very popular.

Maleny Cheese recently reopened after a devastating fire. It creates a range of award-winning cheeses and yoghurts using local milk. Visitors can take cheese tasting tours and watch the cheese maker in action at the viewing platform.
