Step aside Paris Fashion Week… move over Met Gala!
The Australian Wearable Art Festival rubs shoulders with the world’s premium fashion events – proving that art, architecture, fantasy and fashion can combine to create something truly extraordinary.
Now in its 5th year, the festival happens at Kawana on the Sunshine Coast –featuring more than 35 Aussie and international artists showcasing their creations on a 27-metre catwalk.
Categories include Floriana; Sustainable Nature; Avant-Garde; and the fabulously named Trashion – in which designers create showstopping outfits, literally, from trash.
How about a gown made from coffee pods or plastic water bottles? Or perhaps CDs and even unused, expired RAT tests?
The show is on again in 2025 and whether you’re a fashion fan or art lover, make sure you’re in the front row!
