The Old Station Teahouse is great stop for those seeking a relaxing cup of tea with a slice of history on the side. The building dates back 110 years when it was an old station house selling train tickets. Nowadays it’s open for morning and afternoon teas, lunch, and Friday nights.
Its leafy location is a 40 minute drive north of Mackay, just inland from Cape Hillsborough National Park. Close encounters with nature usually go hand in hand with camping. But the Feathered Nest Retreat, carved out amongst the Aussie bush, offers luxury in addition to a wildlife experience.
You’ve got the choice of one and two bedroom light-filled retreats complete with a private plunge pool. A real highlight is a window to your very own Avery where you can watch the resident birdlife including rare black cockatoos. The Feathered Nest offer a 3 night special with all the trimmings; massage, food platter & bottle of wine on arrival, plus breakfast hampers.
You’ll find it a 30 minute drive north-west of Mackay. To plan your drive of the Mackay area look no further than the RACQ trip planner to get the wheels in motion.
