It’s that time again when we roll out a trio of upcoming festivals and events, set in some of Queensland’s most scenic locations.
First, we’re heading to tropical North Queensland for the 2nd annual Port Douglas Gran Fondo.
Mark Beretta from Seven’s Sunrise is the ambassador for this 3-day event which sees cyclists cruise the Great Barrier Reef Drive between Port Douglas and Palm Cove… one of the prettiest coastal stretches on the planet.
Gran Fondo means “Big Ride” in Italian – but there are various event lengths to suit your skill level, from the full 136 kilometre ride to 48 kilometres.
Either way, you’ll be ‘pedalling in Paradise’.
The Port Douglas Gran Fondo Festival is on from the 8th to the 10th September.
Head to the Discovery Coast over the first weekend of October and dive into a feast of First Nation culture at the 1770 Cultural Connections Immersion Festival.
The two-day festival celebrates a way of life that thrived long before European arrival in the area – and includes markets, cultural workshops, live performance including music and dance, kids’ activities and food and beverage stalls, including bush tucker.
Music lovers, here’s one for you.
The Sunshine Coast hinterland welcomes the 11th annual Mitchell Creek Rock n Blues Fest, from 15th to the 17th September.
This boutique music festival is set on 100 acres of private property in the Noosa hinterland.
More than 30 international and national acts will perform on 2 big stages across the long weekend – and there’ll be market stalls and food vans aplenty.
Kids and well-behaved dogs are also catered for – with designated paddocks for pooches and a supervised children’s area, with games, ukelele workshops and arts & craft activities.
Spring into spring with a festival… or maybe two!
