Luke Galea is an environmental scientist with a passion for promoting the Mackay region as a premiere fishing destination.
A regular writer for various fishing magazines and blogs he has also collaborated with QLD tourism to produce a DVD that showcases the diversity of fishing available in and around Mackay.
One of Luke’s favourite fishing spots is Funnel creek, an hour south west of Mackay. This freshwater creek is dominated by two species of fish, Saratoga and Sooty Grunter.
Luke often fishes this creek using plastic lures and prefers the stealth of an engineless vessel such as a canoe due to less noise that could potentially scare the fish away.
