Macleay Island Arts

Macleay Island in Redland City is gaining a reputation as one of south east Queensland’s most creative destinations. Located just 30 kilometres from Brisbane, Macleay Island is currently home to 250 artists, writers and musicians. Total population is 3500.  The ever growing artistic community features a broad range of skills and talent ranging from painting, sculpture, pottery, calligraphy and photography to dancing, singing, acting and writing.

Local artists of note include David Wells, Ted Upton, Madeleine Ekeblad, and Karen Foster. These artists work out of their homes, and open them up as galleries to visitors.

The Macleay Island Arts Complex offers painting, pottery and printing sessions to visitors and locals. The complex also has a gallery.
