Magical Moreton – Kay and Sammie’s Favourite QLD Destination

If anyone knows Queensland, our presenters know Queensland. They’ve been to every corner of the state, covering every kind of destination from the tropics to the outback and all those in between.

So when we asked their very favourite Queensland destination, imagine our surprise when Kay McGrath and Sammie O’Brien came back with the same answer – Moreton Island!

It’s the third largest sand island in the world (Fraser Island is the largest, and Stradbroke Island comes in second). With crystal-clear lakes and lagoons among pristine beaches and abundant colourful flora, we can understand why Kay and Sammie love it so much.

“I’ve been going there since the 80’s,” Kay said. “I’ve shared my love of the white sand and aqua blue water with my family and friends countless times and created some precious memories.”

“Mum and Dad have had a shack there for the last 26 years, so I’ve practically grown up there.” Sammie said.

It’s only 40 kilometres off Brisbane’s coastline and easily accessible via boat, ferry or barge. When it comes to activities, you aren’t short for choice with options like snorkelling, diving, four-wheel driving and even sand tobogganing. As for accommodation, there’s something to suit every taste and budget whether you want to camp, rent a holiday home or even spurge on an all-inclusive resort.
