The heritage city of Maryborough on the Fraser Coast has plenty of attractions worth checking out. Every Thursday, the city centre is abuzz with the Maryborough City Heart Markets. People come from around the region to sell their wares and it’s a terrific way to spend a few hours.
Also popular with visitors is a visit to Portside, the city’s largest tourist destination. There visitors can learn about the city’s past as a bustling port, when it was the second most important port on the east coast, behind only Sydney.
A highlight for many is a ride on the Mary Ann, a replica of the original steam engine that was built in 1873. It runs every Thursday until lunchtime and on the last Sunday of the month.
