Lester Cain runs the Middleton Hotel half way between Boulia and Winton. The town of Middleton consists of just one building – the pub, built in 1876 – and a population of two people and three dogs.
Lester is one of those outback characters you simply have to meet when on a Queensland road trip. With his snowy hair hidden under a much-loved Akubra, Lester could have been a movie star, but Hollywood had other ideas.
