Queensland’s E-Scooter Hot Spot

They’re fun (according to the cool kids)… kind to the environment… and they get you where you want to go, fast.

We’re talking e-scooters – and the tropical city of Townsville has been crowned by RACQ as Queensland’s e-scooter capital.

A beautiful climate, great coastal scenery and a long stretch of beachfront are the ideal ingredients for some scooter-driven sightseeing.

Tips? E-scooters are different to bikes in that they have a much smaller wheel, so take care with bumps and potholes. Also, if you’re a beginner, elbow and knee pads plus some gloves are a good idea.

Point your wheels in the direction of Longboard Bar & Grill, right on the headland.  This is the perfect pitstop for brunch or lunch – with an all-day menu that offers crowd-pleasers like fiery chicken wings and fish tacos.

You can also try their range of Tequilas – 100 to choose from! – or sip on craft beers.

Once you’ve parked your e-scooter for the day, why not take to the waves aboard Magnetic Island Ferries?

There are regular passenger services from the mainland to Maggie – and you may even spy frolicking dolphins on route.

Time your visit right and you could be enjoying sailing and sundowners with Pilgrim Sailing.

Paul and Clare are the wedded sweethearts at the helm – and they love to entertain guests on board with drinks and a cheese platter, featuring fromage from the Atherton Tablelands.

Stay the night? Why not!  Step off the yacht at Nelly Bay Marina and you’re within strolling distance of Peppers Blue on Blue.

The resort has suits and apartments with stellar views over a harbour of million-dollar boats.

Keen to try an e-scooter? RACQ has plenty of information and safety hints online.
