School Holidays at IndigiScapes

What’s the one thing every parent wants to see during school holidays? Happy, busy kids!

At Redlands IndigiScapes Centre that’s exactly what they’ll get and as an added little bonus, the kids might even learn a thing or two.

IndigiScapes is the Redland City Council’s environment education centre.

“This is the perfect place for kids to first of all get outdoors and get amongst nature to experience all that we offer,” said IndigiScapes’ Ranger Stacey.

During school holidays, there are a number of special activities organised for the kids, and there’s something happening every day.

“Everything from rope tying to some of those practical skills, but also even going on bush walks gives them the opportunity to have free time, free play, and to get a little bit dirty sometimes,” Ranger Stacey said.

“There is so much of offer here, there’s a fairy scavenger hunt which is quite a new addition to IndigiScapes, there’s giant Connect 4 the game, there’s also a scribbly gum workshop that takes place as well and there is just so many little nooks and crannies to explore so people can bring a picnic blanket and have a picnic, have a natural ice block on a hot day, we’ve got a beautiful café that sources all local foods and some bush foods as well.”

“Our eco gift shop where there’s the most beautiful story books for kids as well so there really is something for everyone.”

With 14.5 hectares of beautiful bushland to explore, you can see why there’s a strong focus on getting out into nature and according to Ranger Stacey, this is so important for kids to do.

“This is something that I’m really passionate about, I mean I’ve dedicated my whole career to getting people, especially kids, connected from an early age,” she said. “I think it gives children the respect for the natural world around them.”

“It’s such an important thing to love animals and understand the cycles of the seasons and I think if they have a connection with nature, and they understand, they appreciate it, they’ll want to protect it, so I think it’s really important.”

Head to IndigiScapes these June- July school holidays to experience the whole range of awesome activities.

We recommend you book ahead though to secure your spot.
