Lee and Victoria weren’t the only ones to love Still by Matt Nable… Here is what the QBD crew thought:

From Australian writer Matt Nable, Still is a thrilling, heart-stopping novel that fans of The Dry are going to love.

Set in Darwin in the Summer of 1963, Senior Constable Ned Potter searches for answers as a brutal death is discovered in the town. Caught up in corruption, Ned is struggling with the investigation as his boss tried to declare it a possible suicide. More cases surface, and Ned has a theory that these deaths are all connected.

Charlotte, unhappily married and feeling trapped in her town, goes for a drive one night and stops for some fresh air. She comes across a man who has been badly beaten and realises she needs to get herself and the man out of the area quickly.

The book switches between the narrative of Ned and Charlotte, with seamless transitions and perfectly structured comparisons. Ned and Charlotte are both realising the depth of the corruption in Darwin and that no one can truly be trusted…
