It’s Live in Queensland – March

After several years that can only be described as character-building, it’s a safe bet to say that Queenslanders could do with a serious dose of good times – STAT!

That’s why – in 2022 – WEEKENDER is your go-to for all the fabulous festivals and events Queensland is famous for.

Each month, right throughout the year, WEEKENDER will share our It’s Live in Queensland calendar of upcoming events and celebrations with all the dates and details you need – plus how to find out more.

So, grab your diaries – and plan to party, people.  Let’s kick off with a cracking country shindig!

ROMA’S EASTER IN THE COUNTRY

14 – 18 April

Pull on your boots and dust off your Easter bonnet.  Load the kids in the car and head west for Roma’s Easter in the Country.

This 5-day festival has something for the whole family – from bull-riding to goat races… camel and helicopter rides… an amazing street parade… cool classic cars… a Monster Easter Egg hunt for the kids… and, for Mum and Dad, the famous Wife Carrying Contest.

There’ll be rodeo action and drag racing…  art shows and bush poetry performances.

Tour the Southern Hemisphere’s largest cattle yards – and tuck into mouth-watering steaks at the Outback Tucker Under the Stars dinner.

One of Queensland’s premier Easter events, Roma’s Easter in the Country is an awesome way to celebrate everything unique about the Outback.

GOLD COAST OPEN

30 April – 2 May

Next must-do to mark on the calendar is the Gold Coast Open – formerly the Burleigh Pro.

In this surf-tacular 3-day event, the best surfers in Oz and beyond battle it out in the green barrels off Burleigh Heads.

There’s action on and off the water. Think skateboarding and BMX demos, live music, merchandise markets, street food, chill-out zones – even sunrise yoga.

The event is an Open Men and Women’s surfing competition – and a cranking celebration of coastal surfing culture.

20 April – 1 May

Still on the Gold Coast – lights, camera, action meet surf, sea and sand at the Gold Coast Film Festival 2022.

Movie-buffs, future film-makers and international Aussie stars come together in this celebration of the silver screen – set at venues across the Gold Coast (unofficially Australia’s Hollywood!).

Across 12 days, you’ll enjoy pop-up cinemas, panel discussions and Q & A sessions, parties, special events and screenings of more than 100 fabulous films.

Soak up the Queensland sun and step into the spotlight at the Gold Coast Film Festival in 2022.  Popcorn is optional.

If any – or all of that – has put you in the partying mood, your next step is to go online and check out the It’s Live in Queensland events line-up.
