The Country Bakery on the Coast

Every sleepy little town in rural Queensland has a classic country bakery, right?

So why should those of us who live at the coast miss out on delicious, home-baked country treats?

Well, now we don’t have to!

Kenilworth Bakery at Mooloolaba Wharf is the country cousin to that famous hinterland bakehouse known for its larger than life goodies, like the 1 kilogram donut and sausage roll.

The family behind the nearly-century-old business decided to open a second store on the Sunshine Coast to meet the demands of customers – and it’s proving to be a bonanza for ‘sweet-tooths’ across the region.

The Mooloolaba branch has its own signature specialty – coffee in a Nutella-lined donut cup!  And there are pooch-friendly treats for sale too, including doggy donuts and biscuits.

Right across the road from the wharf is Newport Holiday Apartments – a fabulous base for making the most of Mooloolaba.

The 16-level tower has amazing ocean and beach views – and features 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments that are comfortably furnished and fully self-contained.

If you, your family or friends have a disability, you’ll also appreciate the accessibility apartments – thoughtfully equipped with beds and bathrooms to cater for those with mobility issues. There’s also a swimming pool on site!

While you’re staying in Mooloolaba, tackle the surf breaks, take in a sunset sail or splash out on a completely creative pursuit.

Frida’s Sip-n-Paint will coax out your inner artist before you can say ‘Frida Kahlo’!

Named for the famous Mexican artist with the dramatic eyebrows, the studio offers a luxe setting with a red carpet arrival, chandelier-strung ceilings and artisan-crafted timber benches – so your artistic experience is as luxurious as possible.  BYO drinks and nibbles – or pre-order a grazing platter from a local providore.

The sessions are guided by highly experienced artists and absolute beginners are welcome. In fact, the motto at Frida’s Sip-n-Paint is “fun art, not fine art!”.

The venue and experience are perfect for special events too – from birthdays to Hen’s Parties.

There are so many secret delights to discover up and down the length of the Sunshine Coast.
