Camping on Moreton Island needs a bit of know-how and organization. But if you want to enjoy camping on the island but without the hard work, there is a way!
An easy Moreton Island holiday begins with the MICAT which is operated by Moreton Island Adventures. The MICAT is a large ferry vehicle which can get you and your 4WD vehicle to the island in comfort and in just 90 minutes from Brisbane.
Once on the island, Moreton Island Adventures has a wonderful accommodation option called Castaways which offers ‘glamping’. It has 11 beautiful tents which are set up and ready to go. Each one has its own bathroom with shower and comfy beds. There’s also a camp kitchen, general store and café on-site that serves breakfast and lunch.
For dinner, guests can order a delicious glamping pack which they can cook up in the camp kitchen. For guests who don’t have a 4WD, they can be picked up from the MICAT and transferred to Castaways. Easy as that!
Plenty of activities can also be organized for guests including a wonderful night time kayak tour of the Tangalooma Wrecks with Australian Sunset Safaris. Each kayak has LED lights that illuminate the depths below, giving guests an incredible peek at ghostly wrecks, fish life, turtles and Wobbegongs. It’s suitable for all ages and is an Australian first.
