The Ipswich Region is a large region that takes in the city of Ipswich itself and other smaller communities such as Spingfield, Willowbank, Rosewood, Marbug and Pine Mountain.
Within that large area are a variety of experiences ideal for those in the south east of Queensland wanting a short break or overnight getaway.
Some highlights include the Flinders Goolman Conservation Estate which covers 1900 hectares and boasts some terrific walks including Mt Flinders and an excellent campground at Hardings Paddock Picnic Area.
Nearby the conservation estate is Ironbark Ridge Vineyard. It offers wine tastings in a former 1920s cottage and is the oldest operating vineyard in the region.
Within the city of Ipswich itself, there are many ways to get acquainted with the history and heritage of the city. The Ipswich Antique Centre has over thirty antique dealers housed in the one centre and has an eclectic collection that draws in visitors from far and wide.
In the Top of Town precinct a new business that has people talking is Pumpyard Bar and Brewery. Guests are invited to dine in this bar / brewery, just metres from where their craft beer is brewed. There’s also beer in the food menu! Their beer ice cream is not to be missed.
Also in the Top of Town Precinct is the Ipswich Massage and Herbal Spa which offers visitors a big selection of treatments including relaxation massages, infrared body wraps, acupuncture and Chinese medicine.
For people with a love of horse power, then Ipswich offers some great experiences. The first is Ipswich Trike Tours. They offer short joy rides or full day tours that are tailored to guests. A popular tour is the Heritage Tour which takes in such places as Queens Park, Denmark Hill and St Mary’s Cathedral.
Another very popular experience is at Willowbank, at the Queensland Raceway. It’s called the V8 Race Experience. Guests can get behind the wheel of a fully race prepared V8 and take for a spin around the raceway. And for an added thrill, the instructor can also take guests on a few adrenalin filled hot laps.
To see the region from the air, Floating Images Hot Air Balloon Flights are a great option. They combine the romance and adventure of old world transport and offer one hour scenic flights. They are personalized and boutique with a maximum of ten guests in the basket.
