Where to eat in Townsville

In North Queensland right now, local produce is finding its way into the hands of some of Australia’s most talented chefs. Townsville, in particular, is churning out top-notch food in a decidedly tropical setting.

Jamie Fitzpatrick is just one restaurateur doing his bit to put Townsville on the culinary map with his waterfront eatery, Shorehouse. Deliciously grilled chilli-butter bugs, soft shell crab and seafood curry all caught locally… how could you resist?

From Reef to the Beef, another recent addition to North Queensland’s Scene is Shaw & Co. Owners Matt and Lyndsay are known locally as ‘meatheads’ – thanks in part to the star of their menu, an epic kilo-plus tomahawk steak!

After a long day of eating, treat yourself to a night or two at The Ville, a newly redeveloped waterfront resort looking over the coral sea. Here you can take a dip in the pool, visit a number of restaurants and bars on-site and you’re only a few minutes walk from The Strand. Miss Songs is one of the delicious restaurants open for dinner at the resort. Head Chef, Arie Prabowo The Asian Kitchen will take you on a journey across the orient where you will discover classic Chinese dishes with a modern twist using fresh and locally sourced produce.
