How to get your fine dining and cocktail fix at home

Fine dining… cocktails… a night out in the city… these are all things we’re currently craving! And why wouldn’t we after being in isolation – something none of us have ever experienced before. The world will go back to normal, but until then, it’s nice to know you don’t have to forego the things you love most!

Grape Therapy in Brisbane’s CBD is one of many businesses using technology to change tack in these challenging times… introducing Covino! A virtual cellar door experience, keeping you connected with wine education from the comfort of your home.

You can decide how many wines you would like to taste, as you would do with any normal wine tasting at Grape Therapy, but instead, the tasting is conducted via Zoom, Skype, Facebook or even Instagram! All you need to do is book online here, select a date with Federico, and he will look after the rest. You can also organise to have your wines and charcuterie board delivered, or you can collect from their Brisbane City location.

But if cocktails are more up your alley… tucked away in Brisbane’s oldest laneway is Death and Taxes Bar. They’re now offering your favourite drink, pre-made in a take-home kit! All you need to do is pour their delicious cocktail mixture over ice… which is also included in your kit. Hint: the Negroni and Old Fashioned have been the most popular. Prices start from $15. You can have them delivered if you’re within a 5km radius of the CBD or pick up from their Burnett Lane location. While there, swing by Alba Bar & Deli next door to pick up a meal too – you won’t regret it. Think Spanish tapas take-away.

As for fine dining – well, that isn’t off the table either. No need to sit down for a meal to sample the exquisite menu from Patina at Customs House. They’re offering take-away ready-made feasts… fit for a couple, or family of four!

In a pivot due to the current circumstances, Patina first offered their delicious slow-roasted lamb shoulder and have since expanded their takeaway offerings… with a 12-hour brisket and a hot-smoked ocean trout now also an option. It’s a great way to experience fine dining at home, but to also help a local business! Patina do all the hard work; all you have to do is warm it up once your home. You can elect to either pick it up or have it delivered if you’re within a 5km radius of the CBD. Order your next roast from Patina here
